Petition for Parking-Protected Bike Lane on 47th St

The upcoming repaving of South 47th Street provides a rare opportunity to increase street safety across a long stretch of West and Southwest Philadelphia. We are calling for traffic calming measures and the creation of a parking-protected bike lane along 47th Street from Chestnut Street to the Grays Ferry Bridge.

Market St Bridge Detour Needs Bicycle Safety Improvements

[Last Update: Aug 2024] PennDOT is rehabilitating Market St Bridge which will result in a 15 month closure of Market St and a 3 month closure of the SRT. Philly Bike Action has been continually advocating for more information and better safety accommodations for people on bicycles during the detour, especially on Walnut St Bridge and N 23rd St. Learn more about our advocacy on this issue.

Philly Bike Action Calls on City Leaders to take immediate action to improve the safety of Philadelphia streets after the preventable deaths and serious injury of a cyclist and two pedestrians on July 17th.

Support the 22nd Street Bike Lane in Fairmount

We have an opportunity to make Fairmount safer with the 22nd Street Traffic Safety Project. Fairmount Civic Association wants to hear from Fairmount residents as they consider extending the bike lane and pedestrian safety measures on 22nd Street from Fairmount Avenue to Brown Street.

Withdraw the Bike Lane Parking Permits on Spruce and Pine Streets

Every Philadelphian, regardless of age or ability, deserves safe, accessible bike lanes to get around. Unfortunately, we find our bike lanes on Spruce and Pine streets obstructed by motor vehicles each weekend to accommodate congregants who choose to drive. While everyone has the right to worship as they choose, no one has the right to put others in danger by parking in the bike lane.

Tell Mayor Parker: Don’t Defund Traffic Safety!

Mayor Cherelle Parker's Budget includes a 60% decrease in spending on Vision Zero projects, which help protect pedestrians, motorists, and people on bikes. Now is not the time to give up on safety. Crashes and fatalities are on the rise, and 125 Philadelphians were killed due to traffic violence last year, including fifty-five pedestrians and ten people on bikes.
