Philly Bike Action!

Take the Lane To City Council - Public Comment

This campaign has been completed.

Thursday September 5th | Art Museum | 8:30am

Join Philly Bike Action and ride to City Hall to flood City Council’s public comment session in support for safe streets!

In May of this year, Mayor Cherelle Parker’s budget cut funding for Vision Zero in half. In July, Dr. Barbara Friedes was killed while biking in an unprotected bike lane by a speeding driver. In August, Mayor Parker refused to meet with advocates delivering 6000 petition signatures demanding safer streets. And to this day the Mayor hampers efforts to protect bike lanes in Philadelphia.

We’ve lost too many riders, walkers, and neighbors to let this go. Our goal is for 2024 to be the last year in which anyone is killed by automotive violence in Philadelphia.

Join us to ride from the Art Museum to City Hall for a rally, and stay as you are able to deliver public comment during City Council's Stated Meeting. If the Mayor refuses to hear us, let’s make sure City Council does!

We are asking City Council to support

  • Allocating $1.5 million in additional funding for Vision Zero
  • Immediate concrete protection on Spruce, Pine, and Allegheny Ave
  • Concrete protection on all new bike lanes
  • Enforce No Parking/No stopping in all unprotected bike lanes

Please RSVP if you intend to speak with PBA before City Council

You will need to:

  • Sign up in advance or on the day in Room 400
  • Bring your Photo ID to gain access to City Hall at 9:45am
  • Wait for your name to be called, then deliver a 2 min remark before Council

Philly Bike Action will email you a reminder with further instructions on how to sign up.
